1000 Genomes

The 1000 genomes project represents one of the first large-scale efforts to sequence a large cohort of ethnically diverse people. Here, low-coverage whole genome sequencing was used. While the low coverage means that the power to identify singleton variants across the cohort is low, in general variants that are to some degree common (>=1% MAF) in at least one ethnic subgroup covered in this study should be present in this cohort.
